NYX have been around for quite a while (Remember their glitter pots?!), but since being introduced to Boots earlier this year, they’ve been going down a storm. I’ve used quite a few NYX products in the past and been lucky enough to work with the brand a few years ago. I’ve purchased a few of their products recently, so this is an accumulation of a few mini hauls.
NYX are really affordable. My boyfriend thought £25 + was expensive for 4 products, but little does he know! I’ve paid £25 for one product before and been disappointed, so finding something you like for a few quid is winning! I’m pretty impressed with all these, though I do need to test out the wear of the lip products. Here’s what I picked up!
NYX Baked Blush
Housed in a cute plastic compact with dainty black bow, the NYX baked blushes are a combination of blushes, illuminators, and bronzers. From baby pink to bronze, theres something in this line up for the majority of skin tones. The shade I have is Spanish Rose, which is a pretty iridescent pink. The formula of this is a little powdery, but these can be used wet or dry and using them with a damp brush definitely gives a more pigmented look. This shade makes a great blush or illuminator on pale skin. I’m not sure if it would show up well on very dark skin tones, so I’d suggest using a darker pink hue like Statement Red.
An affordable concealer with shades to suit most skin tones, the NYX Concealer is high coverage, easy to blend and long wearing. I have the shade Porcelain, which is the lightest available. This is a good match for porcelain complexions but it does lean slightly warmer than other light concealers I own.
NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator
A good, affordable dupe for Benefit High Beam, the NYX Born To Glow Illuminator is a liquid highlighter that gives a beautiful, radiant glow. I have the shade Sunbeam, which is an icy pale pink. You can use this highlighter on its own or mix it with your foundation for an extra glowy base. The main difference between the NYX Illuminator and Benefit High Beam is that the NYX version is glittery when blended. If you hate glitter, you’ll want to give this a miss. It’s a very sparkly highlighter that looks stunning on the top of your cheekbones, but it may look too OTT for daytime wear.
NYX Hydra Touch Brightener
A water based crayon to highlight and illuminate, dont be fooled by the name. This isnt a shimmery or opalescent product. The shade Radiance is a pale pink matte that provides subtle highlighting for the eye area or for assisting in contouring of the nose or cheekbones. The Hydra Touch Brightener comes in three shades and isnt a product for dry skin. The pale pink hue works really well at brightening my eye area, and if you suffer from dark circles, I’ll think you’ll find this works well as boosting tired looking eyes. This also works for using under the eye brows to give extra definition. Personally, I’m a big fan – its one of those products that you dont think you need, but actually really does a great job with minimal effect.
NYX Butter Gloss
A welcome alternative to matte lips, NYX Butter Glosses are a hydrating pop of colour for your lips. I have the shade Peach Cobbler – a glossy peachy coral. This gloss is highly pigmented, though you’ll need at least two swipes for even coverage and feels comfortable on the lips. Having not tested the wear, I cant say if its long lasting. However, these type of glosses don’t normally last long on my lips. Peach Cobbler is a really pretty shade that will suit both light and dark skin tones, and the buttery texture feels amazing. I’m sure I’ll be buying a few more of these!
NYX Lip Lingerie
After searching for weeks in every Boots store in Manchester, I finally got my hands on one of these babies. The NYX Lip Lingeries have been hugely popular as matte lips have dominated the beauty world. I managed to grab Ruffle Trim – dusky peach. A liquid matte lipstick, the formula of these is said to be similar to Kylie Jenner’s lipsticks (not sure how true that is!) and they’re much cheaper! The texture feels like a whipped mousse, gliding over the lips with ease. Ruffle Trim dries down pretty quickly – if you have dry lips, you’ll need to really make sure you scrub and moisturise before application as this finish isnt the most flattering on a dehydrated pout. This shade complements pale skin and I can imagine its one of the more popular shades. I really want to try Bedtime Flirt and Push Up next!
